After breakfast, the shuttle drives us to the MAS, Museum aan de Stroom.
The MAS is more than an interesting building, a warehouse in the middle of the bustling district ‘Het Eilandje’. Its modus operandi extends to every corner of the city and it attracts people from far beyond Antwerp. Here we will use all our senses to discover the city’s rich past, the river Schelde and the port, through breath-taking views (360 degree panorama), surprising the many large and small details of this architectural gem. A pedestrian boulevard with meters-high glass windows leads you more than 60 meters high. The collection of around 500,000 pieces will give you another view of the city and its centuries-long contacts with the world.
For lunch, we will enjoy a nice lunch in a local restaurant known for its tasty Belgian cuisine.
After lunch, we will discover another famous Antwerp characteristic: Diamonds!
The Diamond Walk will guide you through the most important diamond trading center worldwide. The guided walk will start in the magnificent Central Station. Afterwards we will walk through the Square Mile – the heart of the diamond district – towards the city center.
We will pass by the 4 diamond fairs of Antwerp and our guide will explain how the trade is being driven into precious little stones.
You will learn everything about the 4 C’s, the importance of the northern lights and what gives that shining aspect in these noble stones.
